Jiaxing market regulators hold "Public Spot-Check, Carefree Travel" food safety event

On Sept 23, an event hosted by the Jiaxing Market Regulation Bureau and organized by the Xiuzhou District bureau was held at Xincheng Old Street, with joint inspections and on-site sampling of eateries.

On Sept 23, the "Shangde Shoufa, Shared Food Safety — Deepening Whole-Chain Regulation to Safeguard the Mid-Autumn and National Day Holidays" and "Public Spot-Check, Carefree Travel" event, hosted by the Jiaxing Market Regulation Bureau and organized by the Xiuzhou District Market Regulation Bureau, was held at Xincheng Old Street in Xiuzhou District. Organizers said the action was tied to a special campaign on online food-delivery food safety.

According to the event briefing, enforcement officers joined relevant Xincheng town departments and the old street's management operator to carry out joint on-site inspections of food businesses in and around the old street scenic area, including online delivery merchants. They focused on back-kitchen hygiene, operation of "Sunshine Kitchens," food-ingredient storage practices, health management of staff, and license display on delivery platforms.

The event invited social supervisors, resident representatives and tourist representatives to take part. They randomly selected popular local specialty foods at old street eateries, with the representatives "ordering" the categories and merchants to be sampled on site. Enforcement officers followed food safety sampling standards, completing sample selection, information verification, ledger registration and on-site sealing in sequence. The sampling was open throughout and subject to public oversight to ensure standard, traceable procedures.

A food safety outreach desk was set up in a public area of the old street, distributing food safety leaflets to visitors, focusing on food-purchasing tips for travelers and food safety reminders for online food delivery, with on-site Q&A. A quiz with prizes was also held on holiday food consumption and everyday food safety knowledge, promoting safe consumption and scientific eating in a relaxed setting.

The event briefing said follow-up test results will be publicly disclosed in a timely manner in response to public food safety concerns. As of now, the file contains no specific test results, merchant names or batch information from this sampling; related conclusions await official disclosure.
