Panji District Inspects Bulk Baijiu Sellers, Orders Some to Rectify Within Deadline

The Panji District market regulator inspected bulk baijiu outlets including farm markets and grocery stores, checking licenses, supplier documents and labeling, and ordered sellers with poor storage, incomplete records or improper labels to rectify within a deadline.

The Panji District Market Supervision Administration organized enforcement officers to carry out a special supervision and inspection of bulk baijiu (散装白酒), focusing on sales venues in its jurisdiction including farm markets, grocery stores, small supermarkets and alcohol retailers along urban and rural streets.

Officers focused on checking whether food business licenses held by operators were still valid, and carefully examined supplier qualifications, purchase receipts and inspection reports for bulk baijiu. They checked whether storage containers were clean and sealed, and focused on container labels, requiring clear marking of alcohol content, production date, manufacturer and contact information, and prohibiting the sale of unlabeled bulk baijiu of unknown origin. They also screened for illegal additives and irregular blending of baijiu.

For operators with substandard storage conditions, incomplete ledger records or non-compliant labels, officers provided on-site guidance, issued rectification requirements and set deadlines for completion. These issues fall within operational process management; the case file discloses no test conclusion that any product was substandard, over-limit or toxic, and no health risk can be inferred from them.

Officers also carried out legal education during the inspection, explaining food safety laws and regulations to operators, informing them of the risk points and legal responsibilities of selling bulk baijiu, and guiding merchants to firmly establish a sense of primary responsibility for food safety and to operate in compliance with the law.

The Panji District Market Supervision Administration said it will continue to step up regular patrols and follow-up "look-back" inspections of bulk baijiu, keep the 12315 consumer complaint and reporting channel open, and strictly investigate and punish illegal acts of refusing to rectify or selling substandard bulk baijiu in accordance with the law. Consumers who find relevant leads may report them through the 12315 channel.
